Tuesday 1st July 2008.
Rev. Peter Low was inducted Incumbent of Heybridge with Langford on Tuesday 1st July 2008 by the Rt. Revd. John Gladwin, Bishop of Chelmsford. Peter came to us from St Boniface Church in St Budeaux, Plymouth, Devon.
Peter is very fond of motorcycles (he has five of his own), and has a Sixties-style Gemini kit car with a 1.6-litre Ford engine, and recently took part in an endurance rally in Morocco, in the sports car built in his garage!
The 2,000-mile mountainous rally was a nine-day event with up to 40 competitors and, as Peter explained, took in roads that are not quite up to UK standard. He said: "Checkpoints were set up along the route which open and close at specific times. The idea is that you can't be too quick or too slow."
Peter took two weeks of annual leave to participate. Before the event he joked "I am really looking forward to it. I don't get to see much motorsport as it's all on Sundays!"
Peter has already been a visitor to Langford's Museum of Power, and we have no doubt will be a frequent visitor to the many excellent exhibitions and displays that the Museum hosts.
We welcome him to our parishes and hope that he will enjoy his time with us.
